There are two battery options – the standard battery which provides 5 hours of continuous use, or the extended battery, which can get up to 12 hours of use per charge. Product FAQs
Q. Do I need any special kind of router or WiFi to use this camera?
This camera, like almost all WiFi hidden cameras, connects to 2.4GHz signals only. Many routers now broadcast in both 2.4GHz and 5Ghz signals, so just make sure when you’re setting up the camera, if your router does broadcast both signals (called “dual band”), that you are connecting the camera to the 2.4Ghz signal.
Q. What if I move the camera to another location?
The camera needs to connect to a WiFi network wherever it is placed in order to operate. So if you set the camera up at your home with your home’s WiFi network, and move it to another location (like your office), then you’d need to set up the camera again at your office with a WiFi network at that location.
Q. What if I don’t have WiFi, can I still use this camera?
If you don’t have WiFi, you can still use this camera in what’s called “peer to peer” or P2P mode. In P2P mode, you’ll connect to the signal that comes from the camera, which reaches about 10-20 feet. This allows you to monitor the camera from nearby on your smartphone, but once you’re outside that 10-20 feet, you won’t be able to live view the camera feed. You can still set up the camera to record video however. For a complete “non-wifi” solution, we also offer a completely non-WiFi camera which doesn’t require any smartphone, and simply has an on/off switch on the device itself, so you can record video, and watch playback on your PC or Mac computer later.
Q. Can multiple people view the live camera feed at once?
Yes up to 3 people can live view the camera feed at once. To do this, each person will need to download our free live streaming app, and then add the camera by using it’s unique camera ID, and the password that you setup during the set up process.
Q. How do I view the recorded videos from the micro SD card?
There are two ways to view your recorded videos on the memory card. The first is to remotely download the videos to your smartphone via the app. This allows you to view the recorded videos from anywhere in the world without removing the memory card, and without having to have physical access to the card. The second method is to physically remove the memory card from the camera, and insert it into your PC or Mac for playback. This method also allows you to save the videos to your computer, email them, or delete them if no longer needed.
Q. Does this camera have night vision?
This hidden camera does not have night vision sensors, however if you need night vision recording or operation, please check out our night vision hidden cameras here.
Q. Where can I hide this camera? How much of the camera needs to be visible?
The beauty of this “DIY” camera is that you can hide it almost anywhere. All that needs to be visible is the tiny pinhole piece of the camera. You can leave it out in plain sight, or hide it or build it into an item that is already placed wherever you want to want to monitor (like a shelf, plant, etc).
Q. How long will the battery last? How do I recharge the battery?
There are two battery options. With the standard (included) battery, you can get up to 5 hours of operation/streaming on a full charge. The optional extended battery can get up to 12 hours of operation on a single charge. For longer term use, you can use the included wall charger and plug the camera into AC power for 24/7 operation, so you won’t have to worry about battery concerns.
Q. What if I have multiple rooms or areas to monitor?
If you have multiple rooms in your home or office to monitor, you can mix and match this WiFi hidden camera with over a dozen different compatible cameras. You can add all the cameras to the same live streaming app, and monitor them all from the same app.
Q. Can I have different cameras at different physical locations and monitor them all from the same app?
Yes you can have cameras placed at different physical locations (ie. One at your home, one at your office, etc), and you can have them all added to the app. Each camera just has to be connected to a WiFi network wherever the camera is physically located.
Q. What kind of memory cards does this hidden camera accept? Do I need any special kind of card?
For best performance we recommend high-speed, name-brand memory cards, designed for recording HD video.
Q. Can I record video to my smartphone in addition to recording to a memory card?
Yes, you can record video to the smartphone app while it is open and active. This is usually ideal for short term recordings. For longer term recordings, we recommend recording to a memory card.
