The HC520w is built out of a functional light switch, so you can easily use this device and swap out an existing switch. The device is hardwired, so it wires directly to your existing electrical wiring, which provides 24/7 operation and no battery concerns to worry about - making it perfect for long term security and surveillance.

The light switch camera is available in two styles - a traditional switch style, as well as a rocker switch style - so you can use the switch that matches your existing switch style in your home.

In addition to live streaming, the camera includes a 128GB memory card so you can record video as well. Choose between motion activated or continuous recording, and always have a copy of what your camera saw.

Motion detection aka "activity alerts" send you a push notification to your phone whenever your camera detects activity - like a person walking by the camera - so you can pull up your camera feed to see what's going on.

Record Video to Micro SD Card

Q. Does this work as an actual light switch?

Yes the HC520w works as an actual light switch! For ease of installation, we recommend replacing an existing switch, however if you prefer, you could run the switch to its own circuit where the switch itself doesn't control anything if needed. The camera operations run completely separately of the switch, and will work no matter if the switch is in the on or off position.

Q. How is the camera powered?

The camera is a hardwired device, meaning it wires directly to your existing electrical wiring. If you are not familiar with how to wire a light switch, we recommend having a licensed electrician install this device.

Q. What is the difference between the two styles?

We offer two light switch styles - a traditional switch, and a rocker switch. Other than their appearance, they operate in the same way, just a different visual style.

Q. Do I need any special kind of router or WiFi to use this camera?

This camera is compatible with both 2.4GHz and 5.8GHz WiFi signals, which cover the majority of consumer routers on the market today. There may be some specific situations where the camera may not be compatible (nursing homes, coffee shops, etc) that have additional security requirements, but for most people the camera should be compatible with any normal router brand.

Q. What if I move the camera to another location?

If you wish to install the camera in a different location (like you are moving it from your house to your office) you would simply need to do a factory reset to reset it back to the default settings, and then set it up with the new WiFi network at the new location.

Q. Can multiple people view the live camera feed at once?

Yes you can share your camera login information with someone that you trust (like a spouse or partner) so they can monitor your live camera feed as well if you desire.

Q. Can I record my video too?

Yes you can - videos can be recorded to a micro SD memory card hidden inside the device. A 128GB memory card is included, which can hold weeks to months of video at a time. You can view playback remotely via the app, or remove the memory card and insert it into your PC or Mac computer for playback.

Q. Does this camera include night vision?

Q. How do motion detection alerts work?

Motion alerts notify you if your camera detects motion or movement nearby, and sends you a push notification to your phone. This allows you to pull up your camera feed to see what's going on.
