- The HC240w USB charger WiFi hidden camera is an AC powered device, meaning that it must be plugged in to power in order to operate. You can plug it directly into an AC outlet, or into an extension cord or surge protector. Using an extension cord allows you to “aim” the camera if your outlets don’t face exactly where you want the camera to monitor.

Product FAQs
Q. Do I need any special kind of router or WiFi to use this camera?
The HC240w, like almost all WiFi streaming spy cameras, connects to 2.4GHz WiFi signals only. Many modern routers broadcast in “dual band”, which means they have both 2.4GHz and 5Ghz signals. Make sure that when you set up your camera, that you’re connected to the 2.4Ghz for optimal operation.
Q. What if I move the camera to another location?
If you move the camera to another physical location (such as from your home to your office), you’ll need to set up the camera again to a nearby WiFi network. You don’t have to reset the camera password, just select the new WiFi network for your camera to connect to.
Q. If I don’t have WiFi, can I still use this camera?
If you don’t have WiFi, you can still use the WiFi charger camera via “peer to peer” or P2P mode. This P2P mode allows you to connect to the camera on your smartphone within 10-20 feet of the camera, so you can live view the video on the app, as well as adjust video settings and recording modes. You won’t be able to access the camera feed outside of that 10-20 feet range, however. We also offer a non-WiFi version of this camera here, which doesn’t need a smartphone at all.
Q. Can multiple people view the live camera feed at once?
Yes up to three (3) people can view the live video feed at once. So if you’d like for both you and a spouse (for example) to be able to view the live video, you’d download the app to both smartphones, use one phone to set up the camera, and then on the second phone, simply enter the unique camera ID and password you created during setup, and you’ll both be able to access the live video.
Q. How do I view the recorded videos from the micro SD card?
There are two ways that you can view the recorded video that is saved on the memory card. The first is to physically remove the memory card from the camera, and insert it into the card reader, and plug it into your PC or Mac computer. You can save the videos to your computer, email them, or delete them if no longer needed. The second option is to remotely view the videos via the live streaming app on your smartphone. This doesn’t require physical access to the memory card, allowing you to view the recorded videos from anywhere in the world.
Q. Does this camera have night vision?
This WiFi charger nanny camera does not have night vision, however if you do need that feature, we have a WiFi streaming USB charger camera with night vision available here.
Q. Does this device work as a functional USB charger too?
It sure does! Simply connect your existing charging cable for your smartphone, tablet, or other small USB device into the USB outlet on the front. The charger will charge your device just like a normal USB wall charger.
Q. What if I have multiple rooms or areas to monitor?
If you have multiple areas or locations to monitor, you can mix and match this WiFi hidden camera with over a dozen other compatible models. Simply add all the cameras to the same live streaming app, and you’ll be able to easily access the camera feeds.
Q. Can I have different cameras at different physical locations and monitor them all from the same app?
Yes as long as each camera is connected to a WiFi network wherever it is physically located (ie. Your home’s WiFi network at home, your office’s Wi-Fi connection at work), you can add all the cameras to the same app to monitor them in one location.
Q. What kind of memory cards does this hidden camera accept? Do I need any special kind of card?
For best recording performance, we recommend high speed (Class 10 rated or higher) memory cards, preferably name brand cards, that are designed for recording HD video.
Q. Can I record video to my smartphone in addition to recording to a memory card?
Yes you can use the app to record video to your smartphone. The one limitation to this is that the app must be open and active in order to record (i.e. If you close or minimize the app, the recording will stop).
