Q. Do I need any special kind of router or WiFi to use this camera?

The HC215w is now compatible with both 2.4GHz and 5.8GHz WiFi networks, which makes it compatible with virtually all wireless routers on the market today.

Q. What if I move the camera to another location?

When you set up the camera, you'll connect it to a WiFi network at that specific location (ie. if you're setting up the camera at your home, you'll connect it to your home's WiFi network). If you move the camera to a different location (such as your office), then you'll need to set it up again with a WiFi network at your office.

Q. Can multiple people view the live camera feed at once?

Yes you can have up to 3 people viewing the live camera feed at the same time. This way you can share your camera info (ID and password) with someone you trust (such as a spouse or partner), and you can both monitor the camera feed.

Q. How do I view the recorded videos from the micro SD card?

There are two ways to view your recorded videos from the memory card. The first is to view them remotely via the app. You can do this anywhere you have internet access, as long as your camera is connected to WiFi. This is a convenient option since you can check the videos from anywhere. Second, you can physically remove the memory card, and insert it into your PC or Mac computer for playback.

Q. Does this camera have night vision?

The plant camera does not have night vision, it needs regular daytime lighting in order to operate. If you need a device with night vision, we do have hidden cameras with night vision here.

Q. How do motion alerts work?

Motion alerts (aka activity alerts) allow you to get instantly notified if your camera detects motion or activity (such as a person walking by the camera). These alerts are push notifications (similar to a text message) that alert you as soon as motion is detected. This makes the camera perfect for home or office security.

Q. How long will the battery last? How do I recharge the battery?

The battery can last up to 15-16 hours on a single charge, longer than most other hidden cameras on the market. To recharge the battery, simply use the included charging adapter and USB wall charger.

Q. What if I have multiple rooms or areas to monitor?

If you have multiple areas to monitor, you can mix and match this with any of our other Pro Series hidden cameras, and monitor them all from the same app. You can even monitor cameras at different locations, as long as they are all connected to WiFi at their respective locations.

Q. What kind of memory cards does this hidden camera use?

For best performance, we recommend a name brand, high speed memory card designed for recording HD video. This camera can accept a 8GB up to 128GB memory card.

Q. Can I record video to my smartphone in addition to recording to a memory card?

You can record video directly to your smartphone, however only when the app is open and active. This is good for very short term recording (less than a minute or so). For long term recording we recommend recording to a micro SD memory card.
