The HC455w is compatible with most WiFi networks. A 2.4GHz WiFi signal is needed, which most routers have. Some networks may have additional layers of security (such as public WiFi networks like a coffee shop or business) that may need additional steps to connect properly, so if you are unsure of the security requirements for your specific network make sure to contact your network administrator to ensure compatibility.
Q. How can I watch my recorded video files?
There are two ways to watch recorded videos from the black box WiFi camera. The first is via the app - you can remotely download the videos to your phone so you can watch them from anywhere in the world. The second method is to physically remove the memory card from the camera, and insert it into your PC or Mac computer, and then click on the files to play. You can then also delete the files, save them to your computer, or email them if needed.
Q. What if I don't have a WiFi network in my house? Can the camera operate in P2P mode?
To get the most out of this camera it is ideal to have it connected to WiFi, however you can use "peer to peer" connection mode, and connect directly to the camera via the smartphone app from a short distance away (up to 15-20 feet). This allows you to monitor the camera feed from nearby, however without connecting it to WiFi, the P2P connection range is limited to close proximity (15-20 feet).
Q. Can I live stream to a PC or Macintosh desktop computer or laptop?
At this time WiFi hidden cameras stream to smartphone or tablets only, they do not stream to desktop or laptop computers.
